Oaklawn Elementary Costume Parade

Fri. Oct. 28 2:40-3:10 p.m.

If you attend the parade and are taking your child home,

please check out with your child’s classroom teacher.

  1. Each grade level will share information about any special plans for that morning. The afternoon is scheduled very TIGHT with an all school meeting and MFD

  1. The Menomonie Fire Department (MFD) will be on-site after lunchtime to present to students about October is Fire Safety and Trick or Treat Safety.

  1. PLEASE remember costumes need to be elementary age-appropriate.

  • 5-6 year old kindergarteners don’t want to be scared

  • Costumes should not include weapons-swords, axes or knives or excessive blood or gore

  • Costumes must be easy for students to dress themselves

  • Students should not wear face paint to school

(Please save the elaborate costumes for family time Trick or Treating)

  1. The weather forecast is mid-40s, so the parade is inside.

  • The parade is one loop inside the hallways with kindergarten leading and classrooms falling in behind as the parade passes by.

  • Guests who are willing to stand should line up along the inside hallways across from the classrooms.

  • Guests who would rather sit can go to the lunchroom.  ALL classrooms will pass through the lunchroom for your viewing.

  • Students arrive back at their classrooms where they stand, kneel or sit on their classroom side of the hallway so they can see students pass by.

  1. Buses will depart from Oaklawn on their regular schedules.
