Welcome to Oaklawn Elementary

Oaklawn Elementary is located on the east side of Menomonie adjacent to the community's industrial park.  The student population is nearly 400 with three classrooms at each grade level kindergarten though fifth grade.  Oaklawn Elementary also houses the district's elementary program for students with significant emotional and behavial disabilities.

The school staff are in the early stages of becoming a Professional Learning Community (PLC).  Selected staff members will be attending a national PLC conference in the Minneapolis area in June 2009.  Oaklawn Elementary has been awarded a REACh grant for a second year.  The grant monies provide for the training and professional development to implement the state of Wisconsin's Response to Intervention (RtI) mandates to improve upon the use of student assessment data to customize academic interventions to better meet the needs of individual students.

Oaklawn Elementary students and staff benefit from an active PTO Organization.  The PTO's fundraising efforts and active invovlement in site planning have been crucial in maintaining quality programming for students during a time of financial constraints.  Recent projects completed with the combined efforts of the school district, site and PTO have been an extensive playground equipment installation and a second computer lab located in the Library Media Center.

I want to thank you for your interest in Oaklawn Elementary School.  We welcome your inquiries, as well as visitors, to our school during our normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. M-F when school is in session.
