Oaklawn Elementary School

Good afternoon Oaklawn families,

As we quickly approach the end of an unprecedented school year, we have been working out our plans for transitioning to summer. We must address exchanging students’ and school possessions. The last time many students were in the building was on March 13.  Many student possessions were left in classrooms and many school possessions have yet to be returned. We have been working on a plan to facilitate a safe and efficient exchange of items before the end of the year.

Schools will be returning to families:

• Student personal possessions
• School yearbooks, if available
• Art work
• Student Prescription Medication
• Activity sheets for the summer reading project

Families will be returning to schools:

• Checked out chromebooks and power cords (unless enrolled for June and/or July summer school sessions)
• School-owned headphones
• Library books and media
• Classroom books white boards, scissors etc.
• Intervention resources, such as LLI books

We are asking families to make a brief stop at school to take care of exchanging these items.

Below, is a table with dates and times for certain grade levels to arrive at school for this exchange. The purpose of this plan is to avoid long lines and to promote social distancing, while also being as convenient for families as possible. Each grade level is given two days to pick from, one with morning hours and one with afternoon hours. Please pick the day that is most convenient for your family. If you have multiple children at different grade levels and it is very inconvenient to make multiple trips to school, please call the school office at 715-232-3798 after May 26th to schedule a pick up time to take care of all exchanges in one visit.

All exchanges will occur curbside along the front sidewalk at the school and will not require anyone to enter the building. School buildings are still closed to the public through June 30, 2020.

School staff will be wearing masks and gloves.

Please limit the exchange to one person leaving the vehicle to drop off/pick up items.  We encourage that person to wear a mask.  Thank you for your support.
